Brief Profile of Nirmal Khatri

GMF 22 Programme Co-ordinator (Email)

  • Final Year Student of Development Studies, National College, Kathmandu University, Nepal.

  • Started working in the education sectors since 2015 coordinating with European development agency in rebuilding public schools in Nepal which were damaged by the disastrous Nepal earthquake of 2015.

  • Humanitarian action nurturing a compassionate common good especially  in difficult/crisis times (emergencies) -- relief, rescue and rehabilitation of the human community (as well as ecology where possible) in various districts in Nepal.

  • Present major focus:  Virtues-Value based education for an inclusive and compassionate Common Good, preventive medical, health and healing practices, and liberative technologies in remote/isolated areas .

  • Co-leading Virtues in Movement – Global in Nepal (VIM-Nepal), initiating relief action related to Covid 19 Pandemic and its impact in rural Nepal.

  • Co-leading Aankura Rising Nepal – an NGO aimed in nurturing environment friendly authentic vernacular Nepali architecture.

 

Accomplishments

  • Complete Reconstruction of 3 Public Schools , 2 in Nuwakot (Shree Bhumedevi Primary School, Gahare and Shree Lamagaun Basic School , Lamagau Nuwkot) and 1 in Kavre ( Shree Saraswoti Primary School, Kankre, Kavre) --  Under my Project Leadership, being closely associated with Hugging Nepal – A Spain Based NGO ( 2015 to 2019).

  • Awarded as Best Youth of the Year of Panauti Municipality in 2021 for the work to fight against humanitarian crisis in Covid 19 – Pandemic.

 

Present Concerns

  • Culturally-sensitive, glocal sustainable development practice (people, planet and culture friendly).

  • Bottom Up leadership approach as well as critical followership culture.

  • Virtues, values and  meaningful/authentic living to harness Simple Living, Simple Thinking, Simple Being.

  • Eco-socio-spiritual rural livelihood, nature rights and active dialogue-based cultural relativism i.e not only tolerance but also deep appreciation of meaningful and nurturing co-existence.
